To be competent is to be skilled and knowledgeable
Key competencies are keys for life. They describe the capabilities everyone needs to develop, to succeed at school and in wider communities. The five competencies identified as ‘key’ within the New Zealand Curriculum are:
- thinking
- using language, symbols and text
- managing self
- relating to others
- participating and contributing
The Key Competency Pathway assists us to support the development of these essential foundations for each student.
